March is a month for fresh beginnings. In ancient Rome, it marked the beginning of the warfare season. Today, it marks the first month of spring, when animals come out of hibernation from the cold winter, and a time for us to spring forward with Daylight Savings.
Here at PRSA Dallas, we’ve got several ways to help you shake off the end of winter and reenergize yourself for spring. I hope you’ll join us for coffee and conversation with Casey Norton of D/FW Airport on March 21, as well as our first NuPros program of the year on March 28. We’ve also got a great membership referral incentive: For every new member you refer to PRSA in March, you can earn a $30 Amazon gift card, and they’ll receive a free Dallas chapter membership. See more details below.
As always, please send me your feedback and ideas on how PRSA can best serve your needs this year. I enjoy hearing from you.

Members Free Coffee and Conversation: Coaching the C-Suite with Casey Norton of D/FW International Airport
To expand their brand and improve the reputation of the organization, C-suite executives need wise counsel, not made-to-order communications. From day one, communications leaders need to play the role of a trusted adviser to the CEO by understanding their wants and needs for the company. So how do you earn that distinction?
Join PRSA Dallas on Thursday morning, March 21 or coffee and conversation with Casey Norton, vice president of communications and marketing for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. He will talk about the steps you can take to evolve your role from expert tactician to strategist and adviser. Learn how to listen to the C-suite, gain their trust and deliver the victories that elevate the value of the PR and communications team across the organization.
A light breakfast is included with your ticket, and this event is free for PRSA Dallas members. (While the cost shows $25, this is a deposit to reserve your spot. Members will be reimbursed after attending the event.) Register for this event today.
Thanks to our venue host, Half Price Books!

PRSA Dallas Launches Pilot Leadership Development Program for Members
PRSA Dallas is launching a leadership development program designed to develop leadership competency within the chapter. The pilot program will consist of a series of three boot camps for participants who are either new to leadership roles or looking to expand their leadership confidence and competence. The program equips participants with foundational leadership frameworks, skills, and strategies that they can apply to serving the chapter, other professional endeavors, and their personal lives.
The program is free and will be limited to a class of approximately 15 people. Participants must be a member of the chapter and should have approximately five years of professional experience to apply or be nominated to participate and the class. A selection committee will review applications and prioritize members who have demonstrated a commitment to the chapter through volunteering.
The first leadership development boot camp is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 from 8:30 – noon and deadline for program applications is March 22. For more information on the leadership development program or to apply click HERE.

Throughout the month of March, you’ll see posts on our social media platforms from some of our members sharing what Women’s History Month means to them.
Women’s History Month is a time for self-reflection, and it’s also an opportunity for action. Look to information we'll be sharing on the PRSA Dallas LinkedIn page for things you can do during March and throughout the year to offer support and give back to the community.
We’ve provided a short list of ideas on the PRSA Dallas LinkedIn page, but Women's History Month is a great time to do some research of your own to find other ways, too. We look forward to seeing how you are learning and taking action!
Board Member and Diversity & Inclusion Committee Chair
You know you are APR material… show it!
The APR process is an exercise in success. Self-assessment activities along the way—as well as the formal assessment elements themselves—inevitably communicate strengths, limitations, and requirements. You’ll come away with a clear understanding of your PR skills in the form of valuable personalized information to apply toward advancing your present role and future career.
Join other members who have decided to prove their PR chops and start the process today. Email APR committee chair Suzanne Grant to get step-by-step help along the way, a personal mentor and access to classes and tools to ensure success. We still have a few spots open for spring panel presentations the first week of April.
