PRSA Dallas - July 2019 Newsletter Print

President's Message

One of my favorite things about our chapter is the sense of community we share. I felt it last week in New York, where I attended the PRSA Corporate Communications Conference, which was chaired by our own president-elect, James Shackelford, APR. PRSA Dallas had a strong showing at the conference, and I was delighted to meet and catch up with several members of the Dallas chapter there. We may be over 400 members strong, but it still feels like a tight-knit community—especially when we run into each other in one of the biggest cities in the world. I just love that.

With summer in full swing, I hope you get to take some time for your own personal and professional development. If you know anyone who works for a cause-driven organization, please share our fifth-annual Nonprofit PR Workshop July 26. This annual event is our chapter’s way of giving back to the North Texas nonprofit community, and—thanks to the stellar committee led by Katie Mudd—this year’s program is looking fantastic.

Read on for more ways to plug in with the PRSA Dallas community. I look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon.

Monthly Event

5th Annual Nonprofit Workshop scheduled for July 26

Every year, PRSA Dallas offers a FREE half-day PR workshop for nonprofits to help them get ready for giving season and North Texas Giving Day. For nonprofit organizations, it’s a chance to hone their branding and messaging, media relations, digital marketing and social media skills with tips from the experts—including the media themselves. This event sells out every year, demonstrating the need local nonprofits have for communication training.

Members and non-members of PRSA Dallas are welcome to attend. Registration cost is $25 per person and includes breakfast provided by Blue Mesa Grill. (Fee will be refunded to guests in attendance after the event only.) Registration is limited, so please sign-up quickly to reserve your spot!
