Wilma Rudolph, a world-record-holding Olympic sprinter in the 1960s, once said this about achieving excellence: “The potential for greatness lies in each of us.”
That quote resonates with me this month—as I sit here cheering on some of the world’s greatest runners in the New York City Marathon—because November is when PRSA Dallas honors greatness in the public relations profession.
This week, at our Pegasus Awards and Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7, we’ll toast this year’s top PR projects, programs, individuals and teams in the Dallas area. I can’t wait to celebrate their accomplishments and debut a fresh new format this year. We’ve traded in our traditional luncheon ceremony for a festive cocktail party—and you won’t want to miss this reimagined red-carpet event. Special thanks to our 2019 awards co-chairs, Jeannine Brew Braggs, APR and Kristin Cole, and the rest of the committee for their creative vision and work on this year’s program.
And speaking of greatness, don’t forget: As part of our Annual Meeting, chapter members will also elect our 2020 PRSA Dallas Officers and Board of Directors at the event. Read on for more details on the candidates below.

Coffee & Conversations with the Dallas Cowboys Communications Team
When it comes to managing communications for "America's Team," hear it first from their leaders. On Nov. 13, PRSA Dallas will host a lively conversation over coffee and light bites with communications and PR representatives from the Dallas Cowboys who will discuss challenges, opportunities and more about the renowned football team. After the event, take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Cowboys HQ office at The Star. Limited seats are available for this event so register today!
Reminder: 2020 Board Elections at our Annual Meeting on Nov. 7
It’s time to elect next year’s PRSA Dallas Officers and Board of Directors. The vote will take place at our Pegasus Awards and Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7. We hope you will make plans to attend.
The Nominating Committee announced its recommended slate of candidates to chapter members on Oct. 8 via email. Information on the candidates can be found at www.prsadallas.org/slate. Chapter members are asked to review the candidate list, which has been approved by the Board of Directors, in preparation for the vote.
In accordance with our chapter bylaws, there will be a call for additional nominations from the floor before the chapter member vote. Additional nominations, if any, shall be accepted, provided the nominees have been contacted, have agreed to serve if elected, and meet any and all requirements to the post for which they are being nominated. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

PRSSA student Rocio Hernandez attends national conference
In October, I had the pleasure of attending the PRSSA International Conference in San Diego and representing UT-Arlington’s PRSSA chapter. The opportunity to attend and to fly on a plane for the first time came thanks to the financial support and investment in my professional career that the PRSA Dallas chapter made. Attending the conference opened my eyes to the resources and opportunities that PRSSA offers. When returning to Texas and to the UT-Arlington campus, I felt confident in sharing the vast knowledge and excitement of my trip!
Thank you for this opportunity!

PRSA Dallas partners with Wreaths Across America for a holiday season service project
PRSA Dallas has partnered with Wreaths Across America for our holiday service project and fundraiser!
On Dec. 14, Remembrance Wreaths will be laid at the DFW National Cemetery to honor our veterans.
Please help us remember these heroes by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day and inviting your family and friends to participate.
As an added bonus, for every $15 wreath sponsorship (that’s 2 wreaths laid), $5 will be donated back to our chapter to support programming needs in the new year. Our goal is to sponsor 50 wreaths by the Dec. 2 deadline! Click here for more information or to sponsor wreaths. Thank you for your support!
